MEX Engineering Group Training Centre
MEX Engineering Group understands that an unskilled contractor is a single point of failure that costs you uptime. That is why we invested heavily in building our own dedicated Training Centre. We built this facility to ensure our own technicians possess deep industrial knowledge before they ever step onto a client’s site, but its purpose has grown to support the wider industry.
Today, we partner with business owners and plant managers to upskill their internal staff and apprentices, creating the technical backbone required to support the future of Australian manufacturing.
Site-ready MEX technicians
Our clients have absolute confidence that when a MEX apprentice or tradesperson arrives on site, they already possess the depth of knowledge required to work safely and effectively in high-speed manufacturing environments.
Capstone Exam readiness
TAFE training focuses heavily on residential wiring, leaving a massive gap in industrial capability. We partner with businesses to upskill their apprentices, providing the complex, hands-on industrial experience they need to confidently sit their Capstone Exam.
Real-world automation training
We train technicians on live industrial equipment, including PLCs, SCADA systems, variable speed drives, and high-speed packaging machinery.
Audit-proof safety culture
Safety is not a poster; it is how we train. We instill a “Home Safe Always” mindset, strictly adhering to international frameworks and AS/NZS machinery safety standards from day one.
Giving back to industry
We are passionate about creating quality craftsmanship. Our facility is open to industry peers who want to collaborate on closing the industrial skills gap.
Engineering standards covered in our training
Our curriculum is built around the strict regulatory frameworks and compliance standards required to survive real SafeWork audits and ensure continuous production.
AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules)
Comprehensive training in the design, construction, and verification of safe industrial electrical installations.
AS/NZS 4024 (Safety of Machinery)
Practical application of Australia’s primary machine safety standard, including risk assessments, interlocked guarding, and hazardous energy isolation.
AS/NZS 3760 (In-Service Safety Inspection)
Rigorous procedures for the testing, tagging, and safety verification of critical plant equipment to prevent electrical hazards.
AS/NZS 3008 (Electrical Installations)
Advanced training in the selection of cables and precise load management for high-voltage industrial environments.
HSEQ focus and certified
Embedding quality management and occupational health and safety systems into every maintenance task to ensure right-first-time execution.
CMSE® (Certified Machinery Safety Expert) Pathways
Foundational training designed to prepare advanced engineers and technicians for globally recognised TÜV Nord machine safety certification.
Delivered by Best-in-Class Technicians for 20 Years
For over 20 years, MEX Engineering Group has operated as the critical infrastructure partner for some of Australia’s most demanding manufacturing and processing environments. We deliver every project under strict HSEQ risk discipline, ensuring safe, compliant, and right-first-time engineering execution.
Unlike other engineering firms who rely on transient labour, we invest heavily in our dedicated in-house training centre to develop the most skilled industrial electricians and mechanical fitters in the industry. This guarantees stable site teams, deep institutional memory, and unparalleled workmanship for your plant. MEX Engineering Group is a CMSE® (Certified Machinery Safety Expert – TÜV NORD) and houses the NSW Centre of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing.

Testimonials from our training program
Bridging the gap between TAFE and heavy industry
The manufacturing industry is facing a severe shortage of qualified industrial tradespeople. Relying on transient contractors who lack heavy manufacturing experience exposes your plant to poor workmanship, safety incidents, and massive downtime costs.
The MEX Engineering Group Training Centre was built to solve this exact problem. By bypassing standard domestic electrical work and providing direct exposure to 24/7 manufacturing environments, heavy automation, and advanced electrical engineering, we instil quality craftsmanship into the next generation of tradespeople.
We welcome business owners to tour our facility to see exactly how we are elevating the standard of industrial capability.
Core Trade Capabilities
Maintenance
Fractional maintenance and 24/7 breakdown support. We protect uptime and stabilise plant reliability.
Electrical
LV power, control design, and hazardous area installations. We provide safe, compliant, and robust electrical systems.
Additive Manufacturing
Industrial Markforged 3D printing. We can do rapid reverse engineering to overcome supply chain delays.
Machine Safety
Full-stack CMSE® safety solutions. Unlike advisory-only consultants, we execute all four stages in-house—risk assessment, safe design, physical installation, and validation.

Giving back to Australian manufacturing
At MEX Engineering Group, our culture is defined by “People Over Profit.” We believe that raising the standard of industrial electrical and mechanical trades benefits the entire Australian manufacturing sector.
By opening our Training Centre to industry partners, we aim to share our depth of knowledge, showcase the scope of our industrial training, and collaborate with businesses who want to invest in the quality and craftsmanship of their own internal teams.
Training solutions for industry
| Industry Classification | Common Skill Challenges | How Our Training Centre Adds Value |
| Apprentices without industrial experience | TAFE training focuses primarily on residential wiring, leaving apprentices unprepared for their Capstone Exam. | Direct exposure to heavy automation, PLC fault-finding, and the exact skills required to pass the Capstone Exam. |
| Plant & Maintenance Managers | Internal staff struggling to diagnose complex electrical faults on legacy machinery. | We upskill your team on real-world industrial fault-finding, reducing your reliance on expensive callouts. |
| HSEQ & Safety Leaders | Inconsistent understanding of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and machine guarding standards. | Practical, hands-on education regarding AS/NZS 4024 compliance and hazardous energy isolation. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the MEX Engineering Group Training Centre different from standard TAFE courses?
Standard TAFE electrical courses are heavily geared toward domestic and commercial wiring. They do not teach the highly specialised skills required for industrial automation, high-speed manufacturing, or complex PLC fault-finding. Our in-house Training Centre specifically bridges this gap, creating elite industrial electricians and mechanical fitters who understand real production realities.
Can our apprentices train here for their Capstone Exam?
Yes. We regularly collaborate with business owners whose apprentices lack the industrial exposure required to comfortably pass their Capstone Exam. We provide the hands-on industrial training they need to become fully competent, confident tradespeople.
Can we visit the training facility?
Absolutely. We welcome business owners, plant managers, and industry peers to visit our facility. It is a great opportunity to see the scope of the training we offer, inspect our automation setups, and discuss how we can help elevate the standard of craftsmanship within your own team.
Are your engineering services compliant with Australian Standards?
Yes. We operate under rigorous HSEQ frameworks and certifications. Our engineering designs and machine safety audits strictly adhere to AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and are supported by in-house TUV Nord-certified CMSE (Certified Machinery Safety Experts).
Do you use subcontractors for your mechanical and electrical engineering?
While we have a broad network of trusted partners, our core capability is delivered by our own highly trained, full-time technicians and engineers. We invest heavily in our dedicated in-house training centre to ensure every staff member meets the MEX Engineering Group standard of excellence.
