Open Day: FutureTech manufacturing NSW expo

On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, MEX Engineering Group opened the doors to our Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence in Narellan, NSW. We hosted industry leaders across the FMCG, high-speed packaging, and heavy industrial sectors to showcase the exact technologies keeping Australian manufacturing competitive, efficient, and compliant.

Unlocking automation and AI-driven solutions

Australian manufacturing facilities are constantly pushing legacy machinery to its absolute limits to meet 24/7 output targets. During the expo, we demonstrated that modernising your plant does not have to mean ripping out entire production lines.

Through live demonstrations, our in-house engineering team showcased how we bridge the gap between high-level engineering strategy and boots-on-the-ground execution. Attendees experienced firsthand how integrating AI predictive maintenance, advanced condition monitoring, and industrial 3D printing can drastically shorten recovery times and eliminate the massive cost of unplanned downtime.

Bypassing supply chain delays at the Centre of Excellence

A major highlight of the open day was an exclusive deep dive into our Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence. When a bespoke gear or bracket fails on legacy equipment, waiting 6-to-8 weeks for an overseas OEM replacement is an unacceptable risk to your throughput.

We demonstrated how our engineers utilise industrial platforms, such as the Markforged X7™ and FX20™, to print high-strength composite materials like Onyx®. Attendees saw exactly how our team can take a broken physical part, accurately scan its dimensions, and reverse-engineer a perfect digital CAD model—even when no original OEM drawings exist—printing a robust replacement in as little as 24 hours.

Supported by a complete ecosystem of industrial tech

Elevating machine safety and operational reliability across Australia requires active collaboration. We were proud to be joined by some of the best in the business, demonstrating a complete ecosystem of industrial technology:
  • Factory AI: Showcasing how predictive maintenance and data-driven diagnostics can isolate microscopic mechanical wear and hidden electrical faults weeks before a catastrophic breakdown occurs.
  • Wysiwyg 3D: Demonstrating precision digital twins and 3D laser scanning (specialists since 2003), perfectly complementing our reverse-engineering capabilities for legacy machinery.
  • Barrier Group: Showcasing advanced physical safety and protection solutions for modern sites, aligning directly with our in-house TÜV Nord Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE®) capabilities to ensure audit-proof compliance.
  • Industry Partners Australia: As an active member of this manufacturing-focused network, we were thrilled to have them on-site, connecting local General Managers and Engineering Managers to strategies for operational excellence.

Moving from theoretical tech to practical execution

The Future Tech Expo proved that industrial automation and predictive maintenance are no longer experimental concepts—they are mandatory tools for protecting your vital uptime. Technology alone, however, does not guarantee successful outcomes. It requires a dedicated engineering service provider with the strict in-house engineering capability to actually execute the mechanical fabrication, electrical wiring, and system integration seamlessly.

We would like to thank all the plant managers, automation leads, and industry partners who attended and made the event a resounding success. Missed the event? Check MEX Engineering Group events page for more event schedule.
