Delivered by Best-in-Class Technicians for 20 Years
For over 20 years, MEX Engineering Group has operated as the critical infrastructure partner for some of Australia’s most demanding manufacturing and processing environments. We deliver every project under strict HSEQ risk discipline, ensuring safe, compliant, and right-first-time engineering execution.
Unlike other engineering firms who rely on transient labour, we invest heavily in our dedicated in-house training centre to develop the most skilled industrial electricians and mechanical fitters in the industry. This guarantees stable site teams, deep institutional memory, and unparalleled workmanship for your plant. MEX Engineering Group is a CMSE® (Certified Machinery Safety Expert – TÜV NORD) and houses the NSW Centre of Excellence for Additive Manufacturing.

End-to-end electrical maintenance solutions
Most generalist contractors take a reactive “break-fix” approach to plant electricity. They wait for a breaker to trip or a PLC module to fail, patch the system with a quick fix, and leave. This ignores root cause fault isolation, leaving your facility vulnerable to repeat electrical faults, accelerated thermal wear, and sudden, revenue-draining shutdowns.
MEX Engineering Group provides a complete, end-to-end electrical maintenance solution. We lead with a maintenance-first reliability mindset, beginning with our customisable Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Our embedded industrial electricians build deep institutional memory of your facility, actively inspecting your switchboards, testing safety circuits, and verifying Low Voltage power routing. We do not just clear errors; we isolate the root causes of electrical instability, upgrading legacy assets during planned shutdown windows to guarantee safe, continuous operational throughput.
Our Customizable SLA approach
- Client-focused consultation: We meet directly with clients to understand their specific operational needs and challenges.
- Menu-based customization: We build custom packages ‘off a menu’ so you can choose the exact support required.
- Targeted scope: We only include services the client actually wants—no unnecessary add-ons or bloat.
- Tailored pricing: Pricing is tailored accordingly.

Types of industrial electrical maintenance
Our engineering team specialises in the complex physical and electrical environments of heavy industry. We provide custom maintenance solutions across several critical categories, including:
Preventative electrical care
Scheduled testing of residual current devices (RCDs), routine switchboard cleaning, and connection tensioning.
Predictive diagnostics
Advanced thermal scanning, power quality analysis, and diagnostic testing on variable speed drives.
Automation infrastructure maintenance
Servicing smart Motor Control Centres (MCCs), PLC panels, and SCADA communications networks.
Compliance and safety testing
Testing and tagging of equipment, earthing system verification, and machine safety audits.
Trusted by Australia’s Leading Manufacturers
MEX Engineering Group provides embedded site teams and engineering services to some of the country’s largest production facilities. We maintain critical infrastructure for industry leaders across FMCG, food and beverage, and high-speed packaging, including Tooheys, CHEP, Ullrich Aluminium, Goodman Fielder, and BlueScope Steel.
Core Trade Capabilities
Maintenance
Fractional maintenance and 24/7 breakdown support. We protect uptime and stabilise plant reliability by providing customisable service-level agreement.
Electrical
Low Voltage power, control design, and electrical area installations. We provide safe, compliant, and robust electrical systems.
Additive Manufacturing
Industrial Markforged 3D printing. We can do rapid reverse engineering to overcome supply chain delays.
Machine Safety
Full-stack CMSE® safety solutions. Unlike advisory-only consultants, we execute all four stages in-house (risk assessment, safe design, physical installation, and validation) eliminating contractor handoff risk while ensuring complete AS/NZS compliance.
How we saved $17,000 per hour by reducing downtime
Our client’s plastic pallet washing facility is a critical piece of their supply chain infrastructure that runs 24/7. MEX Engineering Group was engaged to provide 24-hour operational assistance and critical preventative maintenance shifts to ensure the plant could survive the severe demands of continuous production.
By embedding a team of three maintenance electricians and one mechanical fitter, we organise all trades, source parts, and execute scheduled preventative repairs over four targeted weekend shifts. Since taking control of the preventative asset care on-site, unplanned downtime has decreased significantly. With client downtime valued at approximately $17,000 per hour, our engineered preventative maintenance strategy delivers considerable, measurable savings across their business operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for electrical maintenance?
An SLA is a subscription-based agreement where we supply embedded, highly skilled industrial electricians to your site for a set, recurring schedule of hours or days per week. For a predictable, fixed monthly fee, this SLA acts as your dedicated electrical maintenance department. This model completely eliminates the financial friction of unpredictable hourly ‘do and charge’ billing, giving plant managers absolute budget clarity and ensuring technical resource priority. We build custom SLAs off a menu to meet your exact needs, with guaranteed response times.
Is additive manufacturing or custom 3D printing included in the SLA?
No. Our advanced additive manufacturing and industrial 3D printing capabilities (operated out of our dedicated NSW Centre of Excellence) are treated strictly as an add-on service. If a custom bracket or custom PLC mounting jig is required, we reverse-engineer and print it utilising Onyx® composite material or the suitable metal required on Markforged platforms, priced separately off a dedicated menu of engineering capabilities.
Are your electrical maintenance services compliant with Australian Standards?
Yes. Every piece of work we execute is carried out strictly in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules), AS/NZS 3008, and NECA-backed safety regulations. Our in-house TÜV Nord-certified CMSE® professionals also ensure safety PLC logic and emergency stop loops are compliant with AS/NZS 4024.
Do you use subcontractors for your electrical maintenance?
No. While we maintain a robust network of industry partners, we deliver our core services using our own highly trained, full-time industrial electricians. This strict in-house engineering capability eliminates contractor handoff risks and ensures that your electrical safety is managed by technicians trained in our own dedicated facility.
